Kampai Toronto Giveaway – Two VIP Passes

We’re super excited about this next giveaway we have in store. If you haven’t already heard (no worries, that’s why we’re here), the largest sake tasting festival in Canada is coming. Kampai Toronto, the Festival of Sake, is the first event ever that will feature over 100+ sakes from Japan and North America all under one roof.

Now sake is something that’s starting to gain momentum in Toronto’s growing food scene, quickly becoming people’s drink of choice. With the explosion of Japanese food and Izakaya options, sake is a type of drink that can be enjoyed both on it’s own or with food. So if you haven’t tried it already, you should definitely jump on that.

On behalf of The Urban Craze, I was invited to dinner at Guu where I got a chance to sit down with some of the most influential people behind sake in Canada and Japan. Getting the chance to speak to Koji Kawakami, President of Yoshinogawa Co., was truly an honor. They are one of the largest and oldest breweries (since 1548) in the prestigious sake region of Niigata, Japan. In 7 words or less, I asked him how he would define Sake:

“Sake goes together with life and happiness”

Now whether this was lost in transition or not, Koji gladly writes something down on a napkin and hands it over to me. Not sure what it says, I look up at Koji. “Genius” he whispers, but not without a smirk. To our readers, please feel free to translate. In fact you are heavily encouraged in the comment section below.
